Did i fry my brand new LCD??

Post by keketron »

Whoops! I think i just fried my new 4x20 HD44780 LCD running in parallel port. I gave it (accidently) 12v instead of 5v (i mixed yellow and red on the molex connector). I noticed this when the brightness control pot started blastin' sparks. Total about one minute on 12 volts, any chance it could work? Atleast the backlight still works :D :D No black lines on power up, does this mean it's gone for good?. the thing gets REALLY hot on the black (epoxy?) dots on the back, i burnt my fingers.

Its fried. If there is no blocks on power up then the controller chip is bad.
