Whoops! I think i just fried my new 4x20 HD44780 LCD running in parallel port. I gave it (accidently) 12v instead of 5v (i mixed yellow and red on the molex connector). I noticed this when the brightness control pot started blastin' sparks. Total about one minute on 12 volts, any chance it could work? Atleast the backlight still works No black lines on power up, does this mean it's gone for good?. the thing gets REALLY hot on the black (epoxy?) dots on the back, i burnt my fingers.
