I use it to pickup temperature data for samurize, adjust cool'n'quiet so it works with my overclocked system, and overclock my videocard among other things. I've recently finished replacing speedfan with it in my samurize configs - my fans are hardware controlled anyway.
Its got documented shared memory, and a working samurize plugin with source code.
The program is still in alpha, but ive been testing for a couple of months and have experienced no instability. Its in active development, most of the new builds relating to the software cpu clockgenerators, and motherboard support.
Lack of a plugin for it is the only thing thats stoppping me from buying a VFD display for my case.
Since there's sourcecode with similar functionality available, im hoping it wont be too hard to make a plugin for lcd smartie - i could be wrong though, im no programmer ^_^
