Hi, first post here, Ive been learning about VFDs and backpacks for the last few weeks. Experimenting and such....
Anyway, I have a POS VFD (Large format) that I've worked out to be a LD220, After lots of experimenting with the test plugin ini and the various command modes inside the screen I've managed to mostly get it working.
However I do have a few problems and I'm starting to wonder if its the VFDs controller limitation.
I cant run LCD smarties refresh intervals that fast, 150/150 any lower than that and the vfd seems to fill up some sort of buffer. Also if both lines are running it takes nearly half a second to print out each line. This is fine for static displays such as a clock timer or something like that. But wont work for spectrum analysers or scrolling text.
Is this a known thing with VFDs? or some VFDs? Or is it just that mines a POS and who ever made it probably felt they didn't need a fast chip to show some ones shopping total?
Or am i doing something wrong?
Im also planning to build my own dll at some point but once I've worked out the best fastest process...
Any ideas?

It seems like the BAUDrate is too slow. Refer to your datasheet for the display and go into your serial port settings and match it. In smartie do the same thing in the parameters field.
