Help needed: 3510i display.

Post by Rax. »

Hi. I just connected 3510i LCD to LPT but i cant get any dot on display.
heres scheme: http://serdisplib.sourceforge.net/ser/nokcol_15g14.html
I have port95 installed, parallel port enabled in bios and i dont know what else to check. Checked pcb for like 10 times and it looks like it should work. Do i need some extra driver for it?

Forgive me my bad English

EDIT: For power supply i use nokia charger throught 1k ohm resistor. the lcd gets some signals from pc but dunno what to do with them. when i restarted i noticed pc made backlight to blink..

Still needing help.

What software are you using to control the display? If you don't have any suitable software installed, you won't see anything on the display. It looks like the only suitable software is the serdisplib library - maybe there's a display demo utility that can be used to test displays.

LCD Smartie doesn't have a driver for this display (as far as I know), so it cannot be used to control this display (unless someone writes a driver). Smartie doesn't support graphics, only alphanumeric character displays or graphic LCDs that emulate character displays.

The Nokia charger is probably NOT suitable to power this LCD - I don't know the details, but it looks like you need a regulated 2.8V supply.

I tryed lcd smartie and lcdhype so far. trying to find serdisplib now..
Nokia charger is good enough for that project, its giving out 2.84V throught 1k resistor :)

Edit: i cant find serdisplib for windows. is there anything like that for windows?

I just had a quick look at serdisplib - looks like linux only, so you are out of luck on Windows unless you can do some programming to adapt the library and build a driver plugin for Smartie or whatever software you use. Serdisplib is not a complete program - it's just a driver library to make it easier to use LCDs in applications.

Smartie is not really designed for this type of LCD, and there are so many different cell-phone LCDs that it's impossible to add support for them.

In short, it's going to be a fair bit of work to get the display going under Windows, unless you can find some software that happens to support this LCD... sorry!
