my hd44780 2X20 it works from time to time for about 10 second at maximum and after only the upper columns are on dark contrast and the botom are blank.
if i use the oldest version 5.1 it works very well
and if i open first the 5.1 and 5.4 and immediatly close the 5.1
it works for about 1 minute....

Hmm, first ting I'd check is the powersupply. Does the backlight flicker at any time during the reset? It sounds like the powersupply is badly underdriving the display, there's a possible short, or something else wiring-specific. I have seen LCDs (I have 4 of them that do this) that will hold their display information for ~20 secconds after I pull power because they feed off the voltage on the data bus from the PC. If you're getting the ol' top line black, bottom line nothing symptom, that is a "test mode" for the display and shows that it's ready to be initialized (like when LCDsmartie first starts up).
Worst case scenario, hook up a voltmeter to the +5, gnd connectors on your PS, plug everything in, start it up like normal and keep your eye on the readout of your VM, I bet it's ducking below 3V when the reset happens.
