.dll plugin for Girder, might it work? (noob)

Hello. This plugin game is all a little new to me, so please be gentle.
I want to access channel info and program name data from my PCI TV card. There is not an LCDSmartie plugin for my card. However, someone has written a .dll plugin for Girder that is able to obtain all the TV card info I want from the shared memory. Discussed in this plugin request (here).
Is the info presented in the same way? What are the chances of reading it using $dll(plugin name,..... etc? I'll give it a go when I get home, but this little bit of guess work is as far as I can go.
