VFD works well but gets garbled

I am using a Futaba T202MD15AA 2x20 VFD using the serial port . Smartie works well, but when any text comes up it is immediately overwritten by blocks,&'s,V's andX's and when the screen changes it writes the new text as it also overwrites it This also happens with a BG Micro 1x16 VFD ,and it also happens on both computers I have running Win XP Pro I am using Port 95nt-1 also on both computers. Any help appreciated. Thanks, Ben

Try to contact Futaba to get more info about your display!

Also try the test driver of Lcd Smartie http://lcdsmartie.sourceforge.net/testdriver.html
