Hello i'm new to this forum, first i wan't to thank you guys for this great piece of software:D
But i have a problem with this plugin that i cannot fix:
I get the error : this app cannot be started because MSVCR71.dll cannot be found...
and after that i get: load of plugin failed: LoadLibrary failed with #126
on my lcd i see: dll can not load plugin
i read the forum but i couldn't find an answer to my problem. When i paste msvcr71.dll into the folder of lcdsmartie i get the next error:
load of plugin failed: plugin nvtemp.dll had an exception during Init: External exception E0434F4D
afterwords on my lcd i see:dll: no bridge func
Note: before i formated my pc everything worked perfect, now it won't work.
Speedfan plugin and winamp spectrum work fine.
i use winxp sp2
.net 2.0
sorry for my english
//edit: it suddenly started to work:?: i've installed another pklugin(wanip) and now it works thanks anyhow

This is caused by the nvidia control panel.... the new drivers are not supported by this plugin calls

Hello
This is my first post in this board.
As for me plugin doesn't report any error but temparature showed is always "0"
However in system driver - Nvidia control panel - temperature is displayed.
Card is MSI NX7950GT

Welcome to the forums!
How do you call the plugin?
Please write here your plugin function and what slowdown threshold your card has.

Hi again
You were right - my fault, I should set slowdown threshold to 130 (value from drivers)
$dll(nvtemp.dll,1,0,130)
This dll call works perfect.
Thanks for quick answer

$dll(nvtemp.dll,1,0,130)
That call works perfectly for me as well.
However, function 2 (ambient) always returns a 0C as the temperature, no matter what parameter..

Happy that it works!
Is ambient temperature shown in the driver control panel?
Function 2 is there for cards that manufacturers decide to implement an ambient sensor, but that's not always the case.

but isnt that i need to install additional software and let it running background all the time?
cause if the plugin can use, then i no need to run extra background process.

Absolutely true!
But Nvidia dropped support for reading the temperature in their drivers for Vista... the only way is direct chip reading, too complicated make a small plugin for smartie.
I mentioned Speedfan because it is the smallest program, is supported by Smartie and can read all the temperatures from your system, voltages, fans, and changes fan speeds. I have it running all the time, using 4.5MB. I find it the best way to get system stats and set fanspeeds, works very good with Smartie too.

ntune does all this now.. why not update it to use the stuff from ntune now instead of the nvidia drivers.... (i need it only to show how much VRAM is in use... but if you can fix it... w00t)

The whole point of this plugin was to easily fetch the temperature (and other things if supported) from nvidia drivers.
I was hoping at that time that nvidia will provide more stats, but it seems that the opposite happened and nothing can be read from their new drivers.
Until nvidia decides to let us get stats from the drivers, the development for this plugin is stopped.
(those stats are in the drivers anyway, but no official documentation exists, also hacking them makes no sense - there will be differences between driver versions)
Also, this isn't thought as a plugin to fetch data from other programs, just official nvidia drivers - if one wants a plugin for reading data from other programs, kindly asking in the plugin request section could make one happy!

I have a FX5200 Card
dos this plug in support it

It works only if your card temperature is shown in the nvidia control panel.
If your card has temp sensors and nothing is shown in nvidia control panel then Speedfan will most surely support it and LCDSmartie has a Speedfan plugin!

It does not work anymore with the new nvidia drivers.
I suggest using speedfan to get all your temperature readings.

I have problem ...
I can't use everest (<3) because since I bought new motherboard it shows for the core temp value of mem temp (they are same). Speed Fan shows correct values, but loads for ages (10s during which PC laggs) and is not stable. and of coure this plugin doesn't work (because no temp is shown in my CP). But what is weird, it hangs up with the sensor values, makes some random number like this (5424651231C) with letter at end. This is shown in smartie and also in Speedfan. When I unload plugin and restart Speedfan, it shows correct values again.
I'd like to ask what is that Core Slowdown Threshold value? When I set it to 0, the plugin returns 0, when I set to any other value, plugin returns the "correct" value (5424651231C)

It was a value in degrees C shown on the video drivers' control panel. The GPU temperature was calculated based on that value so it was needed.
Nvidia changed the APIs so there is no way this plugin will ever work without them publishing the new documentation.
Speedfan is the last resort.

Possible to ask speedfan maker, maybe their way of reading the temperature can be included in plugin? Just an idea...

Well, if speedfan already works and fetches the whole lot of information while using very little memory I don't see the need to do it all over again.

Speedfan is not ideal to run all time. It's unstable on many machines. Detects slowly and not properly.
