action screen... difficulties

Post by nbw »

Hi everyone, I've just managed to get LCDSmartie5.1 working on my 4x40 LCD - very nice :). My primary use is WinAmp. Works well with the LCD.

The only thing.... I can't seem to figure out how to get LCDSmartie to send a keypress to WinAmp via the action screen?

What I want to end up doing is having a cut-down version of Win98 that automatically loads LCDSmartie5.1 and Winamp 2.7 on start-up, and allows me to do basic things like next track, previous, pause, and so on via (to start with) the keyboard and then later I'll make a custom, simple set of seven or so buttons that do the job. Then I can mount the screen + buttons in a nice case, and have it separate to the ol' 400Mhz Pentium 2 with 2 x 10Gb drives full of mp3s.

Can someone help with the actions screen? Is it the screen to do what I'm after?

kind regards :)

We also support keys on some LCDs (on some Crystalfontz displays and all Matrix Orbital displays) - the function operated by these keys is configurable via the events screen.

If you want hotkeys (using your standard keyboard) such as Control-Alt-K etc then please create a feature request (link available from the main website).

thanks for the reply. I've noticed that a gentleman plug-in author is creating a sort of button plug-in along the lines of a joystick port that would enable controlling WinAmp using buttons not even on the keyboard... I'm very keen to see if this happens!

kind regards
