High Contrast Bug

Post by AlexV »

Hi all,

I'm seeing some strange behaviour with LCD Smartie and a Matrix Orbital USB display. It was all working fine for a long time, but in the last couple of days it has started setting itself to very high contrast (everything black) for no reason. I can go into the settings, set the contrast to minimum (everything white), then set it back to middling, and it looks right again. Unfortunately after a few minutes of working properly, it then resets itself to high contrast again.

Has anyone experienced anything similar, or know how to fix this?

Thanks,

Alex

Do you see the contrast slider to different position?
Or only the LCD screen is contrasted to black?

KEEP A BACKUP of your config.ini and try the following:

 Inspect the values of the file especially the [General] section.
Run again the program and if you get black screen check the values again.

 Try to replace the [General] section of config.ini with the default values and change only the display type if its needed.

No, the contrast slider still displays the same correct position, it is only the LCD screen itself that changes.

I tried replacing the [General] section of the config file with the default, but it didn't seem to make any difference.

I'm trying a simpler display, to see if that helps - my setup was using actions to switch between two screens, and I've got it set to just one now. So far it hasn't gone dark yet, but I'll leave it a day, to make sure it sticks.

If it is the actions switching screens that is causing the problem, I can live with a single screen, I guess.
