startup problem with USB/serial palm

I have my old PalmIIIe running palmord conected to a USB to serial adapter plugged inot the USB port on my laptom (COM10) When i go to start LCDSmartie, i get an error message that says "Failed to open device: Access violation at address 004f0e24 in module 'LCDSmartie.exe'. Read of address 00000000"
Im running Win XP on a Toshiba laptop. The HotSync worked fine a few minutes ago, so i know the device is communicating. Any thoughts as to what might be wrong?

Also i am running LCDSmartie from a folder on the desktop. is there any installation procedures i might have missed? there was no installer....

try to run lcdsmartie without the palm connected to the laptop. Also make you have the latest lcdsmartie. theres no installtion procedure except configuring the lcdsmartie.
