Seems kinda pricey for a 2x16 lcd, unless I am missing something.

Do you want an EL backlit LCD?? They require a voltage inverter for the backlight to work.

yeah dont buy EL backlight
and im not sure if it is going to work with lcd smartie

Is AUD$25 expencive for a 2x16?
It's AUD$24.50 or AUD$28.95 for backlit.
It's the only LCD module i can find localy...
If you know a trusted Australian place that sells LCDs and will ship then that would be great.
If it doesn't work with LCD Smartie do you think there would be other apps that would work?

I dont have a currency conversion chart handy. I do not know of any Aust. places.

I get mine off ebay, but some dont like getting them there. I have never had a problem with them either.

Any HD44780 parallel compatible LCD will work from the parallel port. If you want serial, only CrystalFontz and MatrixOrbital currently work in smartie.

so it *should* work
