64-bit support is on its way.

Post by krisp »

For those of you hoping for 64bit support, it will (hopefully) be incorporated into the next beta build which is due to be released shortly. We are switching the parallel port driver to one that is suposed to be 64bit compatible. I don't run Windows XP x64 edition on my amd64, but someone who does should test this once it is released and get back to us. Check back soon for any news on the next version.

thanks!

Just out of interest, what parallel port driver will u be using?
I have ported InpOut32 to x64 and make it function compatible with DLPortIO so LCDSmartie should work in x64 with that... Havnt tried it yet though - I have a USB LCD and Parallel but my dev machines does not have a parallel port

Yes, InpOut32 is what we will be using. We have already made the necessary changes to do so (such that a user can use either dlportio or inpout32). This change is reflected both in the CVS version, as well as the final released of 5.3.2 which I will be releasing soon (just have to get some bookwork done first).

Nice one... Have you modified InpOut32 yourself or are you using the one I ported?

I just found a bug in my version 1.0.0.6 in the DLPortIO compatible bit..
1.0.0.7 fixes it...

My version can be renamed DLPortIO.DLL and dropped into the LCDSmartie folder... and ti works - without you making any changes to smartie...

When I say it works, I mean I think it works, and it dosnt crash (the previous version prior to today caused some exceptions). Unfortunatly my DFI motherboard dosnt have a parallel port so it makes testing a bit difficult!

Anyway, glad to hear the x64 bit comunity isn't being forgotten :)
Thanks,
Phil
