Help with Futaba DM-140GINK

Post by trihy »

Hi guys. I have this display but can´t make it work with lcdsmartie.

Works fine on aida64 selecting futaba.

But on lcdsmartie tried futaba and cannot make it work.

Not sure what parameters should I choose, tried lpt, $378, but not sure.

Display is connected through usb to the computer, is an oem one.

Thanks.

Doubt if it is lpt. More likely to be a com port but you would need to look in the windows device manager to find out which. The com port will be created when you plug the usb cable in.

Hi. Thanks. Do you think I can try some randoms com ports? What will be the correct parameter or command?

Since device is usb and internal, no easy option to unplug.

I looked on windows 10 devices manager and there is nothing that could lead to think is the display.

Since aida64 can use the display properly, maybe i could look on aida log somewhere? Or will make the random com port testing, but not sure which command shoul I add.

Thanks

If you cant find a com port in device manager you wont find it by trial and error.

Are you using the correct device manager? type "device manager" in the search box on the toolbar. if you don't see it in com ports try setting the view to devices by connection and look for the usb device.

Cant find anything related. Do you think some could be the lcd screen?

Com 1 seems to be related to some acpi stuff on my system.

Tried some usb devices and googled for vid but didnt find anything related to futaba and also doesnt seem to have a com port those usb composites devices.

Thanks

What is the libusbk device?
Can you unplug the device and see if something in the list of devices dissapears?

Hi. Libusbk is a USB Bluetooth module. So, not related.

Unplugging could be a nice solution, but since it´s a media center case and the device is internal is pretty difficult to do.

Being a usb module, and lets suppose it´s recognized under usb composite devices, it should show a com port anywhere on property tabs? Or must be under com & lpt ports?

Will look one by one to see if I can find anything.

Dont know why aida64 recognizes this one with no config at all and lcdsmartie is making it so difficult :(

Thanks for your answer :D

Had a look at this and it seems the driver is built into aida64 so you won’t find a com port. It’s a usb hid device. You would need a windows 10 driver for the usb device and you will need to search the internet for it. If I find one I will let you know.

Hi, Thanks

Oh, that could be the problem. Not sure if can borrow the aida driver, maybe a dll?

I have the driver for windows xp and maybe vista. It works on windows x64 10, but force the lcd display to show the clock and nothing more and I guess it can´t be overrided. On 32bit OS it had more stuff, it will show some things, but I guess only on windows with MS Windows media center app (7 and prior)

This is the driver http://download.msi.com/archive/bb/dvr_ ... ista32.zip It´s a .exe and doesnt install any program app, it just show the clock after installed, not sure if we can borrow some driver from here, but probably useless since it barelly supports x64. Driver was never updated by msi.

Suppport for linux seems mature enough https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Futaba

But cant find anything for windows.

Hi. I found this on my system. Do you think I can find a com port anywhere? Seems windows is using a hid driver for the device.
