I just upgraded my original Antec Fusion from XP to Windows 7, complete with a new hard drive, so it's a clean install. I'm using Beyond TV, everything works fine when originally booted, but LCD Smartie is crashing when the system resumes after sleeping.
The VFD is an iMon type, so there's built-in support in LCD Smartie, and I've searched the forum for answers, but nothing seems to work. I've run LCD Smartie in Administrator mode and it makes no difference.
Any troubleshooting ideas?

Are you sure you are using the same version of LCDSmartie
And the same version of the dll?
Have you gone from 32 bit to 64 bit windows 7?

Re: Old Antec Fusion VFD + Win 7...crash after resuming
I upgraded to the current version of LCD Smartie (which has the built-in iMon support), but have the old one if I need it.
And I upgraded from Win XP SP3 to Win 7 32 bit (not 64).

And have you tried the old one?

Yes, both version 5.4 and the latest do the same thing...hang after Win 7 resumes, and then eventually Win 7 notifies me that LCD Smartie has crashed.

Re: Old Antec Fusion VFD + Win 7...crash after resuming
Hmm, there's no resume function in either of the iMon display dll's so I don't know what it does on resume?? Which driver are you using BTW cause I picked this up from the sources:
imon.dll - driver for iMON VFD displays. Requires SG_VFD.DLL which is supplied
with the iMON package. Note that this display does not support
custom characters, although the WinAmp spectrum analyzer should
function correctly.
imond.dll - driver for iMON VFD displays. Does not require the SG_VFD.DLL although
it does require the Windows driver for the iMON display to be installed.
This directwrite driver supports currently available iMON displays, and
should be faster and require less resources than using the SG_VFD.DLL
driver, but future compatibility is not guaranteed. If stability issues
arise with this driver, consider switching to the imon.dll driver.
Would another display driver show anything? Just to prove whether it's LCDSmartie or the dll?

I'll check that XBMC stuff tomorrow night, it looks promising. Thanks.

Re: Old Antec Fusion VFD + Win 7...crash after resuming
I tried out that XBMC stuff, it unfortunately didn't work.
I think the issue is that the VFD provided with the original Antec Fusion case was a custom version by Soundgraph. It's not supported by later versions of the iMON driver - when you install the last version of the iMON software, you get an error that tells you you're using an Antec VFD, not an iMON one, and the software won't run. The XBMC advice assumed you had a newer iMON display, and provided a way to get it to talk to XBMC.
Both imon dlls included with LCD Smartie run the VFD, but both do not resume from sleep properly. Or they crash when resuming from sleep when they talk to this specific VFD. When the system wakes back up, LCD Smartie is not responsive. If I pick a different plug-in, as if I had a different LCD, then the Antec VFD doesn't work (obviously) but LCD Smartie doesn't crash, and wakes up from sleep just fine.
It looks like the dll is stuck in Windows XP. Unless someone can figure out the issue with it, I think the display is hosed.
