LCD Smartie Parallel & Vista 64 Bit and it still works!
Hi,
I?m sorry my englisch is not good enough, but this is a englisch forum.
On my Computer with Vista Ultimate 64 Bit, works LCD Smartie with a parallel LCD well.
Introduction:
1. Load the Binaries only - x86 & x64 DLLs and libs from:
http://www.highrez.co.uk/Downloads/InpOut32/default.htm
Download direktly:
http://www.highrez.co.uk/scripts/downlo ... utBinaries
2. unzip the file
3. open the Folder "Win32" in the unzip-Folder
4. Copy the files: "inpout32.dll" "inpout32.h" "inpout32.lib" from the zipfolder to the Smartie Folder and click to OK to overwrite.
5. Done. Open Smartie and chose HD44780.dll
I hope i could help every 64 User to solve the Problem.
P.S.: Don?t use an USB to Parallel-Adapter because this don?t work with LCDs.

Awesome, thanks a lot!
My LCD was the main reason I didn't want to get 64-bit but thanks to this I have upgraded and now appreciating the benefits of Windows 7 x64

This also works on all 64-bit versions of Windows 7, been using it on Home Premium 64-bit and Ultimate 64-bit for over a year now.

No, the USB parallel adapters we talk about here are for connecting an LPT parallel port (25-pin D connector) printer to a USB port.
If that USB motherboard header adapter does not work, it could be that your motherboard has a different pinout for the USB headers. What display are you using? Does the adapter work with other USB devices? Does the display work on an external USB port?

Yes i have a bluetooth key on the 2nd port and it work. Before i was with vista 64 and have run lcdsmartie without any problem but it was wired! And now i use 7 64 and i can't get it to work!
The error is:
can't find ordinal 3019 in LIBEAY32.dll.
I have signed the driver like before an run in test mode, i don't understand what is the problem!
And about that:

Re: LCD Smartie Parallel & Vista 64 Bit and it still works!
This sounds like a conflict with OpenSSL versions. Are you using the email functions in LCDSmartie?
You can try updating the OpenSSL installation (get it at http://www.slproweb.com/products/Win32OpenSSL.html ). I don't use this so don't know much about it. You may find that you have more than 1 version on your system as it's used by various programs. There is probably a copy of that DLL in your Smartie folder, plus libssl32.dll ssleay32.dll. You can try temporarily moving or deleting these to see if that helps too.

Re: LCD Smartie Parallel & Vista 64 Bit and it still works!
This was a great start, but I followed the post and still could not get it to work. So for all the NOOB's. I installed LCD Smartie v5.4.2.92 Beta, then
download the file: InpOutBinaries_1500 and unzip it. Then moved all the files to the LCD Smartie folder since I was not sure which one was needed. Click on the install driver in the folder of LCD Smartie, You must have the driver installed for this to work. Second, you don't need to install the Port95.exe for this to work on Win 7. Thanks for the post.

Re: LCD Smartie Parallel & Vista 64 Bit and it still works!
Hello? Is anybody here? I can't get LCD Smartie to work. It has worked fine on my 32-bit XP machine, 32-bit Win7 machine and later on 64-bit Win7 machine. However all of them have on-board LPT ports. Now I have MSI Z77A-G43 without LPT port, so I bought PCI>LPT adaptor.
I've installed the drivers, looks like they work, cause when OS boots up my LCDs backlight turns off, so something is actually being written to the port. I'm not sure about port's address, but probably it's LPT3 (any way to check it?). So copied inpout32.dll into LCD Smartie dir, set it to LPT3 and it still doesn't work. Am I doing something wrong?

ew why'd you get an msi z77a-g43? 2nd worst board on z77 and not $20 like the g41 sometimes is. (msi and asrock have been really awful on recent intel iterations).
Why don't you try out different port addresses?

Re: LCD Smartie Parallel & Vista 64 Bit and it still works!
I had my display running fine before, but now I have upgraded and the new motherboard does not have a parallel port. I purchased a SIIG parallel PCIe card so that I could still run the display on my LC03V; however, I cannot get it to run. I have tried everything listed here. The system is windows 7 64 bit. I have tried just copying the files and I have tried copying them and running the install driver application as well from highrez.
I still get nothing on the display. I feel that it may have something to do with the parallel card and I was hoping that someone might be able to give me some insight.
Port settings are set to:
Never use an interrupt
LPT1
Resources are:
I/O Range BFD8-BFDF
I/O Range BFD4-BFD7
I/O Range BFE0-BFFF
Memory Range 00000000F61FF000-00000000F61FFFFF
I would really appreciate help in getting this working again and any suggestions are welcome. Please let me know if there is any further information that is needed to troubleshoot this.

Re: LCD Smartie Parallel & Vista 64 Bit and it still works!
Make sure that the card just isn't a USB printer card. Some have more setting than others and that can confuse some new players. It is suggested that you get a parallel card that either has some serial ports on it or that is compatible with EPP mode. Also you may need to go into the BIOS of the computer and change the port to EPP (the one you already have) Try that and see if that helps...KingFrost wrote:I had my display running fine before, but now I have upgraded and the new motherboard does not have a parallel port.
