LIS VFD help me

Ok, I post this pictures and tell me what am I doing wrong. When I start the scrool the screen goes totally black or gets filled with strange text and symbols.

This is what the screen looks like when its having no software or the software isnt running:

Are you sure that the 38400 baud rate is supported by the hardware?

Try to use a lower value e.g.19200
