iTunes2 plugin: itunes restarts on close

I have set up lcd smartie today (using the wayback machine to find most of the plugins...)
However when using itunes2 plugin two problems occur.
1. When I close iTunes it says one or more applications are using the itunes scripting interface and therefore takes ages to close
2. When it does close it then restarts itself again

Is there any way to get around this?
btw I have tried using the process plugin to change screens and this works before itunes is opened up but doesn't help the problem.
