But there are some things I need, so I started to create plugins to fix this problem.
My first one will check Outlook for unread mails.
It is written in C#.

y=ID of folder in account to check
Get values for x and y by using Outlooktest.exe.
I don't know how this plugin behaves on Outlook versions prior to 2010.
Just give it a try as it _should_ work.
Time check interval is btw 5 minutes.
There are other plugins to come, I created one to read AMD/ATi GPU's temperature, fan speed, core voltage, GPU Load percentage, Memory clock, GPU clock without the need of having any tool running in background. But I don't yet know whether AMD's ADL SDK license allows me to release my plugin. I will check this.
