I have been trying to get Hotmail to work with LCD smartie, I looked up the settings, they do all seem right, they are what the Hotmail settings should be. But I just get a message saying "Error connecting with SSL." If it is any use, when I enter an invalid port number into the "SSL" box of the e-mail settings (that is really, really counter-intuitive, btw) it tells me it has an error connecting instead, so I must be doing SOMEthing right.
A more general question, is LCDSmartie dead or something? The last release was in April 2007, the last message in the core development forum is from September 2008, and most messages in this forum seem to take several months to get replies. Has everybody moved onto a different program or something?

Re: e-mail question and general question
I presume you have the latest OpenSSL binaries in your LCDSmartie folder?
90% of the Q are answered in 24 hours, some special Q need special answers though and not all users have that specific hardware to help.

Would those binaries be in there by default? I only have in there the latest version of LCDSmartie, and the Speedfan plugin.

Re: e-mail question and general question
I've got the same issue with hotmail - "Error connecting with SSL".
I've never tried hotmail access in Smartie before, but have gmail working fine. I can access hotmail via pop3 in my normal email client fine.
In my Smartie folder I have ssleay32.dll of 155,648 bytes, dated 14 Feb 2008 14:18:56 (there's no version info). My LCDSmartie.exe is version 5.4.1.7

Re: e-mail question and general question
I can't guarantee a 100% success with this, but
I think that deleting (renaming or moving the file to a backup folder is better) the dll from smartie folder and installing the package from here http://www.slproweb.com/products/Win32OpenSSL.html SHOULD get it working with hotmail too.
