Problems with an 20x4 parallell lcd when rebooting

Post by goli4th »

Hi!
I have bought this lcd:
http://www.microplex.no/product.aspx?pi ... &mcat=c486

I have LCDsmartie and port95nt installed. Everything seems to be in order. LCDsmartie is a GREAT program!

But when I shut my computer down and turn it on again, the lcd is blank (but the backlight is on). And the two lines (1. and 3.) aren't showing squares when i boot.

Then, I shut the computer down again, pull the lcd-plugg out and reinsert it. Now, everything works fine ...untill my next reboot.

Can anyone help me?

Check the parallel port setting on your motherboard
look here : http://lcdsmartie.sourceforge.net/HDSetup.html

I believe something is going wrong with the port settings.

I have tried that. Changed it to EPP and other things, but nothing seems to work

Yes, I have tried many different values. From 0 to 30 doesn't make a differense.
It only works when I pull and reinsert it (both powerlugg and the lcd plugg fixes it).

I just tried setting it to 2, but that didn't change anything.

Thanks anyway!

Ok this a hardware solution... (nice think)
but I believe there is a software one too.

I think it's maybe my psu that is the problem. It is an old 300W psu. So I used the "switch" for both 5+ and ground to be sure.

Thanks for all your replies!
