LCD screen working but not showing data correctly

Hi,

I've just transfered my HD44780 parrallel screen from my old computer to my new one now running winXP previously win2k.

I know the screen is wired correctly, It was working before and I can see the dark blocks when its switched on.

I can also get LCDSmartie to show data on the screen, but its all jumbled and only 50% correct.
For example if i Type, TEST i get DECT on the lcd. Any ideas ?

Chnaged the timing multiplier.

Can any one tell me what If its port95? not entirly sure what I'm doing there.

Do I have to put the parrallel port number (378) under the address section and press read ? or write ? .

SO far just left it as it is a 768.

On further investigation qrstuv seems to come up as abcdef
and 123456789 appears on the lcd as !"#$%@'89 as if number are "shifted" to symbols ?

It Wokrs- ran the crystalfontz test program,switched it off and it now works, no idea what was going on there.. !!

Everything is being displayed as it should, right off to play. !

Hmm, restarted my computer and I've got nothing on the screen. I know it works I've had it working.

Get the black blocks, on startup then when smatie loads, they disappear to leave nothing..

Any ideas ? fed up of rebooting and hoping it works. !
