Random junk after a few seconds

Post by Hungry_Myst »

Hi,
I set up my new LCD to my laptop (It's a 2/16 display) seemingly correctly, when I go over all of the wires with a circuit tester they are all going to the right pin.

The problem is that when I start up LCD smarty I see the right screen (on the LCD) for a few seconds, and then I see all of this random junk. I've tried playing with the timing multiplier to no avail. What's wrong?

Are you using parallel connection to your LCD?

If So check the parallel port settings. Take a look here...
Why doesn't my HD44780 controlled LCD work?

I rember seing this someware but I can't rember where. Should the parellel port be set to "Try not to use an interrupt", "Never use an interrupt", or "Use any interrupt assigned to the port"?
