Will this combo work?

Post by Bellerophon »

Noobie here,

I am trying to get the following (see pics) working on Vista Ultimate x86. Have done a bit of reading but don't seem to be getting anywhere. If someone could confirm what I need to do and indeed if the combo will work, will be most grateful. Step by step if poss please.

I have bad news for you, USB-parallel adapters do not work with LCD's.

Solution: either buy a PCI-parallel adapter card or a USB-LCD or USB-LCD adapter like here: http://forums.lcdsmartie.org/viewtopic.php?t=1540

Right I have a new pci lpt card installed, portnt.exe installed, lcd smartie 5.4 installed and displaying on screen but not on my lcd. I have chosen then HD44780.dll setting and LPT1, which my card is using and nothing. I have tried different jumper settings on the lcd itself, nothing.

Anyone got any words of wisdom or help they would like to impart please?

Search in device manager for the address the card uses and then put it instead of LPT1 in LCDSmartie's settings.

Like $CC00 instead of LPT1

Edit: just seen that you solved it, info was in the forums ;)
