Hi,
I recently bought a green backlit 20x4 LCD and a PCI Parallel Port to connect it to. I've plugged the Parallel port into the PCI slot and have installed the drivers. The screen is plugged into the Parallel port and also into a molex from the power supply.
I've downloaded LCD Smartie and set it up to use the HD44870.dll and have set it as a 20x4 screen but all I get on my screen is 2 lines of black squares.
Incase it helps; the screen is this; http://www.aqua-pcs.co.uk/green-lcd-kit ... -818-p.asp
Any help appreciated,
Joe.

This happens only because everybody is so secretive about their install...cebz wrote:It says that I can't install port95nt on a 64bit operating system and I tried the advice in that post, also didn't work

If you would have mentioned a 64-bit system then I would have recommended to read this first http://forums.lcdsmartie.org/viewtopic. ... 4597#14597
then use the address from my above post.

If you have the correct PCI card drivers installed, have tried all shown values as the address and inpout32 is correctly installed then there are only 3 possibilities left:
1. the PCI card isn't working right / not supported
2. the display isn't wired right
3. there is a problem with your windows setup
Solutions:
1. Do you have a parallel printer that you could use to try that PCI card?
2. is there any wiring datasheet for that display?
3. after the first two steps a fresh, clean, unmodified OS install could help.
