Smartie works with Vista 64, special needs arise only when using parallel displays.
For parallel port connected displays you must install inpout32 1.2.0.0 from here: http://www.highrez.co.uk/Downloads/InpOut32/
Thanks Philg for this new driver and Warren for signing the drivers so that they work fine on Vista 64.

Hi!
I'm new here and I'm having ttouble with Vista x64.
I've wired my parallel lcd (2x20) correctly, I verified on another Vista computer (32 bit OS on this one).
Ive tried installing Philg's driver (1.2.0.0) but still no luck.
My case is a little special, I'm using a motherboard from Gigabyte, and it's LPT port is on pins on the board, I made my own adapter using a floppy cable and a DB25 female (solder fuck yeah).
I've tripple double checked and my soldered LPT adapter is soldered correctly, I used pinouts from Gigabytes motherboard manual and the LPT one from pinouts.ru, it was pretty simple
pins:
? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? _ ? <-- 12 pins
? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? <-- 13 pins = 25
So I'ts basically an LPT port upside down.
I've verified my adapter is turning correctly.
If anyone know of a LiveXP that can run SmartiLCD and it will work, give me a link to it so I can try, this way I could REALLy verify my adapter is correct and the issue I'm having is with the inpout32.dll
Thank you
EDIT: Oh yeah, I'm using the latest stable release, not the beta if that matters
EDIT2: HEY WTF!
I was reading this other topic here http://forums.lcdsmartie.org/viewtopic.php?t=1722
I changed LPT1 to $cc00, no go, then $c800, still no go, then i changed it to $378 and... you guessed it... GO!
It's f*****g working!
thanks anyway

Rookie as I am in this, but how do you know what port adress to use ?caesar wrote:Glad you sorted it out, specifing port address is a must with Vista x64!
I see you were really happy.
I've installed a "nameless" PCI card as LPT controller and I get my 4x20 panel to show the "test screen" when plugging it in, but no response from LCD Smartie.
Running Vista64 with the port of InpOut32 and still no work.

I've actually tried that, but no success.caesar wrote:aztech:
click start, right click on "computer", click on "Properties", click on "Device Manager", acknowledge the User Account Control permission, locate under Ports your device, double click it, click on the resources tab and there you will find the necessary settings.
Don't know if it's vista, my account in vista (user, with admin rights) or just the drivers to my LPT-controller.
(Using the shipped drivers, because windows don't know the hardware)
Anyway, I don't have a "recources" tab, for this device.
Any id?as ?

I found another device under "Multiport-controllers" that contained the info I was after. Now Smartie works like a charm under Vista64 with the port of InpOut32.dll.
Nice !!
