matrix orbital jiberish

Post by docrock »

Hi, I have a 2 by 20 matrix orbital lcd with a usb interface. I was using it with the previous version of lcd smartie with no problems, when I upgraded to 5.4 and put in the correct com settings and driver, all I get is jiberish scrolling across the screen, a bunch of unrecognizable characters. The screen which shows up on my monitor shows what the lcd screen should be displaying but the lcd does not match it, it just displays jiberish. Any thoughts?

Hey, I had the same problem as you were having, and I managed to fix it. I had to change the baud rate that the computer was connecting to on the com port. I changed mine from 9600 to 19200. Also, with my matrix orbital display, whenever I would type 19200, it would say "fail to initialize" and would not connect. However, if I quit out of the program, and started it back up, it would work fine with the baud rate I had given it. Try that, maybe that will fix it for you.

I'm having exactly the same problem with the parallel version.

Any ideas / advice how to sort it out.

I too am having problems with my MX412. With the baud rate of 9600, using COM4 (the port LCDC uses) I get gibberish all over the screen. Knock it up to 19200 and the backlight goes off and doesn't come back on. only way to get screen back on is to crank up lcdc.

MX412 works at 19200bps, set the baudrate to 19200 and restart Smartie or the computer and it should work. (that is if you didn't change the default baudrate)
