LCD Smartie uses 99% of CPU (XP Home)

LCD Smartie latest version (not beta)
XP Home
Athlon XP 2700 (Or summat)

Computer was running fine with 4 x 20 matrix orbital lk204-25 serial lcd. Now when i turn it on LCD smartie uses 99% of the CPU starting just after boot up. Therefore I cannot do anything on computer. The only thing i could do was safe mode and stopping lcd smartie process by starting task manager before it started on boot up. (After LCD smartie started even task manager would not start). I cannot run LCD smartie in this state but would still like to run LCD. Is this a known fault, A one off (even though it happened on 4 consequtive startups) or is it fixable (or fixed somewhere?)

It doesn't look like a Smartie problem.
It looks more like corrupted Windows registry and/or performance data.
Have you stopped the WMI service? This could also be the cause.
Also check for viruses!

Also try to use LCD Smartie without plugins. Maybe a specific plugin is the cause of the CPU usage
