LCD Smartie Controlled by USB to Parallel Port
I just purchased a an Asus motherboard (M3A). It has no parallel port but does have a serial port. I purchased a USB to parallel port adaptor. The display does not come up but the software runs on the monitor. Any suggestions to make the display work?

You are out of luck with the USB>Parallel adaptor. There are a few posts on this forum about these, and the short answer is they don't work for LCD interfacing, only for standard LPT printers. LCD Smartie (and other software) requires a real hardware parallel port for LCD interfacing.
You should be able to use a PCI card parallel port OK under WinXP - not sure about Vista. It will have a strange address that you must tell Smartie - you can find the address in Device Manager.
The best options for connecting LCDs are serial and USB ports, but you either have to get an LCD with serial/USB interface, or build your own interface...

Check at the hardware section there are few solutions interfacing the LCD.
