Post by lexmark »

Hello everyone, im looking for an lcd for my ps3 and computer but it will adventually be used for hdtv programming so what would my best choices be?

The lg 42lb5d and sharp 37d62u have both caught my eye, the lg is -$500 of normal price, which one would be the better choice? if neither, then what would you recommend??

thank you very much,

nick

A little off topic, before I read this post I thought it was an advertisement... Lol.

Isn't bigger better? If it was me I would check out consumer reports.

off topic? isn't this an lcd forum?

bigger is never better when it comes to hdtv's, you can always get a larger set for less but the picture quality wont be as good.

This is a forum about lcds isn't it?? or does smartie mean something I don't understand?

This forum is really about the small LCD screens you see on the front of HTPC cases (iMON and the like), and small hobby electronics LCDs, rather than PC monitor or TV type LCD screens - hence the "off topic".

We use these small LCDs to display a few lines of info like what song is currently playing in Media Player, or the current show being recorded on a HTPC, or CPU/memory usage. LCD Smartie is the program that collects this info and puts it on the small LCD.

As for LCD TVs, we're not experts by any means, unfortunately. Of course, if you're interested in having a little extra display on your HTPC, this is the place to come...

I agree about the size and picture quality, but I am not going to put a 32" in my living room. For the viewing distance it is too small, and from that far you wouldnt be able to tell the difference in picture quality anyway.
