WHERE TO WIRE LED?

I WANT TO CONNECT SOME LEDs ON TRE PARALLEL PORT WHICH WILL BE CONTROLLED THROUGH SMARTIE. IS THIS POSIBLE WITH A PLUGIN? I HAD ALREADY WIRE THE BACKLIGHT(PIN17) TO A LED.

did you ever find a solution to this? I'd like to wire in a LED, that can be controlled by lcdsmartie

search function for led and you come up with solutions, but the best one out there is this one.
