Hi!
I recently got myself an Antec Fusion case with a VFD. As most people I quickly abandoned Antec/Soudgraph's software in favor of LCD Smartie.
I use this PC as an HTPC with MediaPortal. Because of this it alternates between power-on and standby (S3). The problem I face is that when the HTPC resumes from S3 the display is no longer recognized. LCD Smartie report something like "display not found".
Having said that the VFD works fine with the ExternalDisplay plugin available for MediaPortal. I asked the developer if he'd used any tricks to get the VFD working with standby/resume and he replied:
I don't know exactly what type of iMON the Antec Fusion has, but both types (VFD & LCD) use the original Soundgraph drivers although the LCD at a more lower level.
I think the reason why my plugin works better than LCDSmartie is that my plugin detects if the system is going to standby/hibernation and closes the display first. When the system wakes up again, my plugin initializes the display again, just like at normal startup.
...
I don't know if this is of any help to potentially fix this problem but it would be so great if someone could take a look and see if this can be addressed.
Cheers
/Peter

What is the exact version number of Smartie that you are using?
5.4 is the latest official release, but people have had problems resuming from standby with it. There is a beta version 5.4.1 that has fixed this issue for me, so try the newer version if you haven't already. It correctly restarts the display driver when resuming from standby.

Hi, I'm trying to get my Antec VFD to work aswell. I copied the dll's (MPSmartie.dll, IntFormat.dll) from MediaPortal to the plugins folder, selected imond.dll as the display plugin and 2x16 as the screen.
I can see the standard clock, but smartie doesn't send anything to the leds ... am I missing something ?
Rgrds !
