help, the screen has large black squares?

Hi,

I have a dvd duplicator controller which has a 2x16 lcd screen i think, but when the power is turned on the top line has large black boxes all the way across and does not display anything else,

help would be much appreciated,

any suggestions?

The squares in display is an indication that the lcd module is working.
The problem must be the cable or the driver selected. Please check the connection and the program settings and try again.

Just checking: Is the LCD still connected to the duplicator electronics? Or have you pulled it out and wired it up to the PC parallel port as per the Smartie schematics?

We can help with wiring LCDs to a PC and using Smartie, but probably not other systems/products using LCDs.
