Smartie 5.3 works, but cannot get 5.4 to work

Hi,
I've been using LCD smartie for a few years. I've been running with XP on 5.3 for a while, but just upgraded my machine to vista.

While I can still get 5.3 to run on vista (after installing port95nt) I can't get 5.4 to work.

I'm using the HD44780 serial drivers.

My config in 5.3 is:
[Communication Settings]
Baudrate=8
COMPort=1
USBPalm=0
ParallelPort=888
MX3USB=0
HTTPProxy=
HTTPProxyPort=0
HDAlternativeAddressing=0
HDTimingMultiplier=1

But with 5.4 I just can't get anything to the LCD screen.
Do you know what settings I might need.

In 5.4 I've got the following set:
[Communication Settings]
DisplayDLLName=HD44780.dll
DisplayDLLParameters=$378
Baudrate=8
COMPort=1
USBPalm=0
ParallelPort=888
HDAlternativeAddressing=0
HDKS0073Addressing=0
HDTimingMultiplier=1
MX3USB=0
HTTPProxy=
HTTPProxyPort=0
RemoteHost=localhost

As far as I can tell $378 is the correct address.

Have you checked under the device manager to confirm the address?

Yes, it's 378.

It's taken me a long time to reply as i've finally got around to rebuilding my machine and putting lcd smartie on.

Really want to get the newer version working

So you saying that in the same machine the older version is working? with the same config.ini file?

Yes 5.3 works in the same machine if I install port95.exe

Are the config.ini files compatible between the versions, as I've always just installed and confiured each one through the interface. I can try 5.4 with a copy of the 5.3 config file if they are compatible

Now you can find wht the problem was just by checking the ini files line by line
