L.I.S VFD display driver doesn't work

Post by gas »

Hello,

I have a Zalman HD135 case with a VL systems vfd display. It is a LIS mce vfd. I tried to load the new dll file, but I didn't get it to work in lcd smartie 5.4. This solution works but then I can't control the brightness... (And I hate the constant nagging about the new version)

Somebody has the new lis driver properly working?[/url]

nobody knows a solution?

The thing I found so strange is that the testdriver in version 5.3.2 works with the LIS MCE. the port then is com3, baudrate 9 (38400). But why it doesn't work in the newest versions?

You try changing between 4 bit and 8 bit mode on the LIS VFD driver?
\
To clarify, you should be using the v1.1 driver, and try the different brightness modes.

I use the 1.1 dll,

The problem is the lisvfd.dll driver doesn't work at all... only the testdriver.

Where can I find the 4/ 8 bit settings?

4/8 is the brightness control.

I'm surprised it does nothing. You see absolutely 0 on the screen with the driver? I have an MCE edition I used for doing the development work on this driver and it works perfectly.

There is nothing on the screen, except the default screen, which is the current time and date. Maybe the vfd is some way altered by Zalman. The vfd uses the same driver as a lis mce, but maybe has some differences.
But the strange thing is that the testdriver works... How can I set the brightness in the testdriver?

I have searched the internet and I think vfd in the zalman hd135 is a mplay blast. The mplay blast has a fan controller... maybe this is the problem with the driver lisvfd.dll. But why does the testdriver works??

Hello,

I could not make the LIS driver work on my Zalman HD135 VFD either.
It seems that VL System (who is manufacturing the VFD) is not really keen on divulgating any technical information.
But I found that some guys from LCDproc (http://lcdproc.omnipotent.net/) managed to make a working driver.
Maybe informations could be shared between you LCD gurus so that the LIS driver of LCDsmartie can support this display ?
I could investigate and try writing a driver myself, but it would certainly take me forever compared to an experienced driver developer.
