Generic Spectrum Analyzer
I would to have a spectrum analyzer that works in Windows XP regardless of what application is running. Right now, I think there is only a plugin for Winamp. What would be cool is if there is a plug-in that works for all apps on Windows. It would make for a great case mod, especially for HTPCs.

The winamp plugin spectrum analyser is brilliant. I think it adds a lot of value to the 'package' that is LCD Smartie. So it's a shame that similar analysers haven't been written for other major media players, like Window Media Player and itunes.
I've read a lot of the other posts in this forum, and the main problem with a generic spectrum analyser appears to be speed. Until this is solved, is there anything stopping us making application specific analysers for Smartie?
As I understand it, we need a plugin dll for Smartie and a plugin for the media player which both access the same memory space.
Is there something holding back development of suitable WMP and itunes plugins? I guess we'd need help from someone who can make plugins for these media players?
