A Mount for LCD Display

Post by Gayan »

Hi all I?m very new to this site.

First of all I must thank to this Smartie. It?s a great software. The software has more features than I expect. Easy to control, user friendly, Tons of features, supported to new plugins, forums? etc?..

For the time being I have a 16x2 LCD display. I built the circuit according to the smartie?s specifications (parallel port) and it worked well.

Now I want to make a Mount for my little LCD display. I couldn?t cut my computer casing for this because all the trays are booked. So I need some ideas from you experts how to build a mount for the LCD Display. Any pictures you have done?..any ideas, methods?.etc?

Thankx a lot

You can make an "external" lcd. Mine is in a plastic enclosure on top of my desk. I have seen people put them inside the computer if they have a clear side cover. But its not real viewable.

In case you haven't already seen them...

Pics of my simple project-box enclosure are in this thread. This sits on my desk or sometimes on top of my monitor. I've gone the whole hog and included buttons and a status LED beside the LCD.

This connects via the serial port, but you could make a similar enclosure for parallel port connection to keep the electronics simple.

Do a general web search for LCD projects and enclosures. I haven't seen many pics on this forum, but there are plenty of other sites with info.

Hi mattcro really nice piece of work.
You believe the same box I?m having in my house. I found it from a computer junk. Inside that had a transformer and some components + 8 pin connector I don?t know what?s the circuit it was.

I like your method.I?ll try to make & show you guys??But I like to see others enclosures toooo??
