Hi,
Been using LCD Smartie for my x86 windows rig for a long time, very cool bit of software.
Anyway, my gaming rig based on Windows x64 Professional is a compact 'box-ish' system so I'm avoiding wires hanging in and out of the system (IE Having a parallel cable come out the case). So I'm looking for ways to connect a LCD panel internally. I have USB and Serial headers on my motherboard to play with. I want to keep costs down, below ?40 is my target.
So here are some of my ideas:
Are there any serial LCDs which are supported by x64?
Is there a way to connect a parallel HD44780 LCD using a serial port and still work using x64? Can i do the same with USB?
If you have anymore ideas, please let me know.
Thanks

The most problems on 64 bit OS are faced on parallel connections because of an old 16 bit driver.
Any other type of connection should be working.
Check the 64 bit OS for 32 bit compatibility mode:Read This
In the other hand you can check on the hardware discussion for the custom serial interface (there are PIC and AVR based). This can keep your LCD interface in low cost.
