16*2 LCD Broken?

Hi all,

I think I've broken my 16*2 LCD. When powering up, either fully wired or only connected to power source, the LCD shows the 8 most right digits of both lines, instead of showing the complete upper line (normal initialisation).

The shown digits start to fade away after a couple of seconds until they are completely faded out.

This behavior started when moving from the testsituation (LCD directly to connector, which worked) to a simple print. I shorted the circuit for a short while (power source went into short-circuit protection (LM317)). I did work after that, but all of a sudden, it stopped working normally.

Any ideas?? Thanks!

I had a screen do something similar. It would show all of the test blocks but slowly fade. It never worked again.

. First time same happend to me bro. Now that my first lcd is working crazy. Hi hi heeee

So i bought a new LCD for $8
