Problems configuring 20x4 LCD with PCI parallell card

Post by Caliber »

Ive bought this 20x4 LCD and since i dont have a parallell port on my mainboard, i bought a pci-card with a single parallell port. Ive installed the display and hooked it up to the pci-card correctly, installed port95nt, and lcd smartie (configured it), but still i get those squares on the screen. Im desperately asking you guys to help me out, have been trying for months to make it work. All help appreciated, thanks in regard.

First check the hardware to see if it is installed correctly and if there are any conflicts.

Second, do you have anything parallel you can test the port with? Like a old parallel printer?

Third, what schematic are you using to wire the LCD?

Sorry, that link was wrong. Ive checked for conflicts and the hardware is installed correctly. The lcd was pre-wired, so its all correct. My parallel-card shows up like an ECP-card in system management, but it should be EPP? The card is supposedly a ECP/EPP-card, but i have no idea how to change it. Ill test it with a printer later and see what results i get.
